Memorial Day / 23 week photo

Today is Memorial Day; a day set apart to honor those who serve our country. Austin got to wear his dress uniform, but it wasn't in a way that was wanted. Austin's grandmother, Miss Lucy, passed away this past weekend, and Austin was asked to be a paul bearer. So in honor of and tribute to Miss Lucy, her grandson, whom she was so proud of, dressed his best and helped carry her to her final resting place; then he dedicated her grave.

It was very moving, and a nice ceremony. The kids did wonderfully, and I'm very happy with how they acted. Of course, new coloring supplies help a lot, but still...they sat through almost the entire visitation, the funeral, and the graveside service with so much patience. I know Miss Lucy was proud of them.

Anyway, we took a few minutes to get some photos of us/Austin on Memorial Day in his uniform, so here it is...for all the blogging eyes to see! Staff Sergeant and Mrs. Lewis (at 23 weeks pregnant)!

"Distance is not for the fearful, but for the bold. It's for those who are willing to spend a lot of time alone in exchange for a little time with the one they love. It's for those knowing a good thing when they see it, even if they don't see it nearly enough."
